Austrian company EVN in April 2006 has got the monopoly in the distribution of electricity in the Republic of Macedonia with buying 90% of ESM-Distribution.

On 17 September 2008, distributing and power supplying Company ESM Macedonia was fully rebranded to EVN Macedonia as part of EVN Group.
